Alexis was invited to a birthday party at Little Gym last Sunday. She had a great time and really enjoyed herself. We don't have any photos to show of it but she actually did really well walking on the balance beam. Commitment

So I have committed to running in the Rock'n'Roll Arizona Half Marathon in January 2009. Not sure, what I have gotten myself into but I've already paid my registration fee so there is no backing out. I will be running towards the finish line the early morning hours on Sunday, January 18, 2009. Not only have I made this commitment, Lexi has committed to cheering me on on race day, and Rick has committed to supporting me in my training. I began training a few weeks ago and it seems to be going well (I haven't done any long runs, yet). Now that the weather has started to cool down it is gorgeous in the mornings and I love to be outside. Happy Fall ya'll! Pictures of Lexi to come (I know that is why most of you read this website)!

One Year and Triple the Size

Lexi proved to stay right on track for tripling her birth weight by 1 year! We had our 1 year check up yesterday and here is how much she has grown over the last year. The check up went well and the doctor was pleased with all her new tricks. Still no walking - but watch out this girl cruises and crawls FAST! The heart medicine, as far as we know, is still continuing to work. We have another appt. with the cardiologist in October.

At birth on 9/3/07 at 5:42 AM: 6 lbs. 11 oz. and 21.25 inches long6 months: 14 lbs. and 26.5 inches 1 year: 20 lbs. 6 oz. and 30.75 inches Last week Lexi received a few more birthday presents in the mail. She has a few new favorite things! Here she is enjoying her very own big girl chair. She loves this chair ~ she sits in it, puts things in it, stands in it (we are learning sit down REAL fast), walks around it! Thank you Gramma Cindy and Papa Tom!
She received a big package full of lots of fun animals, toys, clothes, and shoes from her Godparents Uncle Russ and Aunt Robin - Thank you!Storytime started again today for the Fall/Winter Session. It was very nice to see some of our library friends again today and Lexi enjoyed the music and dancing. The month of August there was no storytime and we were out of town on vacation and then we had her birthday so it feels good to be back to a normal routine and schedule. I'm still looking for another weekly activity to add to our routine - there are so many options, I want to make sure we add one that is fun and engaging for Alexis. We are looking forward to Fall because that means more stroller rides and trips to the park - Yeah!

Lexi Graduates

Today Alexis (and mommy) graduated from our MOMS group which we have been a part of since Alexis was 3 weeks old. It started out as a group forum for breastfeeding mothers and soon turned into a place to make great friends with other moms and babies. Here are the few of us that have stayed with the group for the whole first year.Alexis receiving her diploma!

It's been an exciting past few days. We had Alexis' birthday party on Sunday and she has been working on opening her presents everyday! One Week to go . . .

or is it only one week left? I don't know what to make of this last week before Alexis turns one. Should I be excited for all that is yet to come in her toddler years or sad that my little girl is growing up and will no longer be considered a baby/infant? As I have been preparing for her birthday party over the last month, there have been a few tears shed~mostly tears of happiness as I reflect back on where we were a year ago, how our lives have changed so much, and how incredibly happy this one child has made my life. It's something that no one could have ever prepared me for, I once heard someone say it is like going from living life in black and white to living life in color. I'd have to say I agree with that and it kind of sums it up in a nutshell. I feel that I have been so blessed to have been given Alexis and have her brought into my life. Of course, we have had our challenges with her as every parent does with any child, but she has such an amazing personality that it is so easy to forget the hard times and days. She loves to smile, laugh, and lately she has even enjoyed snuggling with me! My favorite moments with her are laughing and playing and looking into her eyes and seeing how incredibly happy she is. For a little girl who has been thru so much, you would never know it because she is always shining like the sun! Putting all this down on paper (or the world wide web) makes me want to thank a few people. . . thank you lord for blessing me with the miracle of life and thank you to my husband for making me a mother to such a beautiful and happy baby girl, named Alexis, who is about to no longer be a BABY!
