Creating a Bad Habit????

Not sure if I am creating a bad habit or not, but on Friday, Alexis and I had snack time on her blanket. We just introduced afternoon snack time this week and Alexis seems to be enjoying it. She gets a few Che*rios and some juice. Friday afternoon, I didn't feel like sitting at the table with her while she ate her snack in her highchair so we tried eating the O's out of a bowl on the floor in the living room. She feeds her self really well, it just takes a long time some days. She did great eating on the floor but we probably won't continue to do it on a daily basis. I almost forgot to mention, on Friday morning she did the sign for "milk" to me when we was hungry for milk. This may not be very exciting to anyone else but myself, but I have been teaching her sign language for about 8 weeks and this was the first time she has signed anything to me (at least that I have recognized).

Angela comes to visit

One of Alexis' biggest fans came to visit her on Saturday. Alexis had fun playing with the new toys that Angela brought her. We got a couple of new penguin toys! We know that anytime we see a penguin we think of Angela.

Lexi is a Super Star

and the sweetest baby girl in the hospital according to all her caretakers (of course, we agree). The surgery went very well and Alexis did great! Overall, the doctor was happy with the outcome. He wished he could have opened the valve a little more but the leaflets of the valve are thick and not as easy to push open. Dr. L. thinks that if everything continues to stay as it currently is she will not need to have any more procedures anytime soon.
We weren't able to get to the computer room last night before it closed because we were at Alexis' bedside as she was recovering and waking up from the surgery and it was closed early this morning. We are home now and Alexis is one happy baby and back to her normal self! We are very blessed that everything went as expected and thankful for everyone's prayers because they worked!

Rescheduled for tomorrow

Alexis' heart procedure has been rescheduled for tomorrow, April 17th, at 2 pm. We will let you know if anything changes. We can't thank everyone enough for all their love, support, and prayers.

Quick Update

Alexis' heart surgery has been canceled for today. There is a child that is more emergent and needs to have a procedure done STAT, so Lexi has been bumped. We can be understanding to this because I am sure somebody was bumped when Alexis was born and needed her procedure right away. They are trying to reschedule Alexis for tomorrow morning, Thursday, April 17th. Nothing is set in stone though, so we will let you know more when we know something. Thanks again to everyone for keeping Alexis in your thoughts and prayers. It is great to have so much support from all our family and friends.

Fun at the Zoo

This past weekend we wanted to do something special with Alexis since her heart procedure is just a few days away. We decided to take an adventurous trip over to the west side of Phoenix to visit the Wildlife World Zoo. Here are some pictures from our 1st family adventure to the zoo.

We are less than a week away from Alexis' next heart procedure. The procedure is scheduled for 12 pm on Wednesday, April 16th at Phoenix Children's Hospital. We will try and post an update as soon as the procedure is over and we are able to get to a computer. Thank you everyone for keeping Alexis in your thoughts and prayers.

Seven Months Old

The last month has been very interesting and exciting for Alexis and us. Not sure what highlights are the most important, but they have all been fun. Each day she is discovering something new she can do by herself and with her own little body. Her favorite foods so far are prunes and green beans. Yummy! Her first tooth popped through the gums early last week. We'd love to show you pictures but it is impossible to get a picture of it. She sits wonderfully and has began to move and scoot around (just a little) enough to reach a toy that is out of arms reach. She absolutely loves going to the park and being outside. She is constantly giggling and talking. To no surprise, one of her first babble sounds has been da-da-da. Which is very flattering to daddy! We have started to learn sign language. I can't wait to see what sign she does first. We said bye-bye to bathing in the small bathtub in the kitchen sink and have moved on to the big tub. And most recently, Alexis took her first swim in the pool!Enjoying a little freedom and a new way to grocery shop. She loves it!This is kind of like driving a bus! Just working on figuring out everything this learning table can do!

First Trip to the Zoo

Yesterday, our friends Amanda and Susan, took us to the Phoenix Zoo. We had a lot of fun seeing the monkeys! We can't wait to go back.
