Potty Training - Lesson #1

teach your baby doll to go on the potty . . .We've been talking and reading a lot about the potty. And we will begin trying to train Lexi this coming Monday. Today, she told me that her baby had to go potty and so she took her. If only the whole concept was this easy.

The Circus is in Town

Tonight, Lexi went to see her first circus. I don't think she was too impressed with the show and it was kind of a long time for her to sit but she enjoyed playing with the girls sitting in front of us. We got to see lots of interesting acts. . .Waiting for the show to begin a nice clown made her a ladybug balloon bracelet.TIGERS . . . "roar"The bear even rode on a tricycle. And last, but not least - the elephants!

Friends

Lizzy lives up the street from us and sometimes stops by to play. Any time the doorbell rings Lexi thinks it is Lizzy because they are usually our only visitors. Today, Lexi and Lizzy played together at the railroad park.

Kid's Club

The local mall has Kid's Club the 1st Monday of every month and we have been participating in it for about 6 months. At the beginning of Kid's Club they sing Happy Birthday to the kids whose birthdays are during the month and the kids get to go up on stage. And of course, we didn't want to miss Lexi's birthday month - she's been waiting for her turn to go on stage and hug Webster the Wart Hog.

Two Year Stats

Alexis had her two year checkup today with Dr. S. It must be all the cake she has been eating because she weighed in at 26 lbs. and 7 oz. and is measuring 36 inches tall. She's gained 2 lbs. in the last 3 months and has really shot up in height, in fact she is now off the charts in her height. The last month or so she has had a major growth spurt and is cleaning her plate at all meals. It was just months ago she was hardly eating 2 meals a day. I guess these patterns are all normal for a two year old.
Things are finally settling down a little after the big New York trip and then her birthday and we are just enjoying the last few days of summer.

An Elm* Birthday Party!

Today, we helped Amanda celebrate her 2nd birthday at the pizza place. Lexi was very excited because the invitation had the Ses*me Street gang on it. It was our first time to visit the pizza place and Lexi had a lot of fun riding the rides and playing a few games.I'm all dressed up - let's go to the pizza party!
Riding along with Bert & Ernie
Daddy helping me with the game
Riding the miniature carouselThe party wouldn't be complete without the cake (we never have to argue with her about eating cake - definitely her father's daughter).

M-I-C-K-E-Y M-O-U-S-E

The day has finally arrived, the day Lexi gets her "mice" cake. She has been so excited for her Mickey Mouse Birthday Party with her friends and her cake. Well, the whole time we have been planning this birthday party Rick and I have worried about the weather being too hot and how were we going to keep the party guests cool. Mother nature took care of that worry and instead "blessed" us with a down pour of rain at 8:00 am. It was suppose to be an outdoor party and right as we were setting up tables in the backyard the skies decided to open up and it poured for 45 minutes. We were in total panic - the guests were due to arrive at 9:30 for a Mickey Mouse birthday party and we didn't know where we were going to put them all. Thankfully, Grandma Cindy was here and she was working hard in the kitchen to make sure all the food was ready to go. We set the tables up inside for the time being and then at 9:20 the rain stopped and the sun came out so we moved the tables back outside as the guests were arriving. It was a little chaotic but I think everyone understood. Anyways, the party began. Lexi was ecstatic every time the doorbell rang. She greeted her friends with their very own set of ears. The kids were able to play outdoors in Lexi's little playhouse and the parents were able to eat.
Just as everyone was getting restless, Mickey Mouse arrived at the door and the kids couldn't have been more surprised. Lexi didn't leave Mickey's side or stop smiling the whole time he was here! It was great. This was the part of the party Rick and I couldn't wait for (we didn't tell anyone he was coming).
After some dancing and some photos with Mickey it was time for him to leave and to serve the cake!Quick family photo before we sing Happy Birthday! And then a little gift opening - Lexi had Giavanna to help her with that part.Saying goodbye to our friends and giving them their treat bags.
As if the birthday party wasn't enough excitement for one day, we had to make a trip to the railroad park to ride the train with Grandma and Papa.

Happy 2nd Birthday Alexis!

Today is the big day! Lexi has been telling people she is "two" for the last month and today is finally the day. Where has the last year gone? You went from learning to take your first steps and saying a few words to a chattering, running, full of life and energy, and eager to learn everything little girl. We picked up grandma & papa from the airport today - they came all the way from Iowa to help Lexi celebrate her 2nd birthday. The spoiling started the moment they arrived and we will have to have grandparent detox after they leave on Monday. ;)Papa, Alexis, and Grandma - Sept. 3 , 2009I think my horsey would like to put on a party hat, too.Just waiting for mommy to look away so that I can stick my finger in the frosting.Lexi's favorite part of any birthday celebration - the "CAKE"!!

The 2 year old birthday party that never ends . . .

We started celebrating birthday number "TWO" at Me-ma's house in New York and what a crazy 10 days it has been!
4 birthday celebrations down and 2 more to go!
