The Easter Bunny found our house

The Easter Bunny definitely remembered to stop at our house to visit Alexis. Alexis knew exactly what to do when she saw her baskets from the Easter Bunny. She grabbed the baskets and dumped all the stuff out. I think she had a lot of fun. Thanks to everyone for making her 1st Easter a special one. Spring is in the air . . .

. . . and we are loving it! With Spring finally here the weather has been so beautiful. We have been trying to enjoy as much as the outdoors as we can before it is too hot. Looking mighty sassy at the park with her sunglasses from Aunt Robin, Uncle Russ, and Cousin Molly!

Heart Procedure Update

Alexis' heart procedure has been scheduled for Wednesday, April 16 at 10 am. The procedure will be done by the same cardiologist that did it when she was just 2 days old and it will be at the same hospital (Phoenix Children's Hospital). Even though we aren't looking forward to this day - we hope and pray that the procedure will be very successful and that they won't need to do it again any time soon. Please keep Alexis in your thoughts and prayers.

Just a few fun photos from this week. We have been busy seeing lots of friends that we don't get to see very often. Lexi has been perfecting her sitting up alone skills, sharing her toys with her friends, and eating varieties of new baby foods.Here is Sharon practicing her Grandma skills. Sharon is expecting her first grandchild in the next few weeks. Alexis had no complaints and thought she did a great job! Lizzy, Alexis, and Sophie just being silly, giggly girls!

6 months old

Alexis with her "remote" or "phone"! Her latest passion is grabbing the remote controls for the television. So anytime she grabs for the remote we give her this phone and so far it is working. I am not sure in a month or two if it will still do the trick, as one of my friends warns me "Wait, 'till she looks to see if the channel changes on the t.v. when she pushes the buttons".
Wow - where have the last 6 months gone?!?!? Middle of the night feedings, smiles, giggles, many stroller rides, trips to the park, moments of pure love, the list goes on and on. We've been through a lot in the last 15 months. As Rick and I look back - we remember how we waited so anxiously for Lexi's arrival. When she finally decided to meet us and to see what the world was like we were handed a true miracle from God. Alexis showed us more strength, hope, and faith in several days than most grown adults have in a lifetime. The one thing they never taught us in our prenatal classes or that no one advised us of was how much love a small child can bring into your life. Alexis, we are so blessed to be your parents, so lucky to get to spend everyday with you, and we look forward to many wonderful, fun times ahead! We love you little sweet pea, Mommy and Daddy. Lexi's First Heart Walk

Rick, Alexis, and I participated in the Phoenix Heart Walk yesterday. Alexis was invited to be a "SUPERSTAR VIP" because she is a survivor of heart disease.

Daddy's Birthday

Yesterday was my Daddy's birthday! Mommy and me packed a picnic and met Daddy at the park for lunch. It was so much fun to see Daddy during the day! He told me when I get bigger we can feed the ducks together.

Doctor visit and Heart update

On Tuesday, Alexis had a follow up appointment with her cardiologist. Every time we go to the cardiologist I pray that maybe a miracle has happened and that her heart has miraculously improved. Thankfully, we have been blessed that her heart condition has not gotten worse, but the doctors have decided it is probably time to do another procedure on her heart. When we left the hospital 5 1/2 months ago we knew this day would probably come within the next year. However, nothing at all makes it easy for us, as parents, to prepare for it. Dr. L said that right now Lexi's heart is functioning very well and there are a lot of factors that he looks at to determine when it is the right time to do the procedure in order for it to be the most successful. He said, "Alexis has a lot of things in her favor right now that make me feel that now is the right time to do the procedure and for it to be very successful." The date of the procedure hasn't been scheduled at this time, but the doctor is thinking that they should probably do it the middle of April. Hopefully, this next procedure will eliminate the need for her to have the valve replaced any time soon. We will keep you posted on the date of the procedure once it is scheduled.
